Philip Cox has been part of the Mitch Cox Companies for nearly two decades. He is currently the owner of Envoy Hospitality and co-owner of Mitch Cox Companies, a commercial real estate development and construction firm focused on hospitality, multifamily, and self-storage. As part of his everyday routine, Philip devotes his time to various aspects of his businesses, ensuring that each cog is running smoothly and seamlessly. Before coming to Mitch Cox Companies, Philip was a successful commercial real estate broker in Dallas, TX with the firm Marcus and Millichap. Philip is a graduate of Southern Methodist University where he holds a BBA in Real Estate Finance.

Philip is an individual who’s never willing to settle for the normal and is fueled by a drive to keep pushing the bar higher. In fact, he considers himself to be an aggressive and creative individual in both his personal and professional pursuits and believes that these two-character traits have led to his success.

He has served as President of the Johnson City Development Authority and the Northeast Tennessee Regional Economic Partnership. He has served on the United Way executive team, Coalition for Kids, and the Johnson City Sports Foundation, which managed the Minor League Baseball team Johnson City Cardinals and was a former Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow.

Philip has been married 10 years and enjoys spending his time away from work with his wife Sarah and 3 kids. He is also extremely fond of skiing and golf, and loves these sports because they aren’t just fun but also give him a chance to experience beautiful, scenic spots.

Byron Browder is a seasoned professional within the hospitality industry with over 15 years of experience working with many hotel brands within Choice Hotels, Hilton Hotels, and Marriott International. Browder joined Envoy Hospitality in 2020 and is a transformational leader with a passion for people and a profound commitment to the achievement of excellence. In his own words hospitality is embedded within his DNA, Byron has spent the last two decades of his life working tirelessly to create a better life for his team members, friends, family, and himself which has propelled his career trajectory within the industry.

Browder is a lifelong learner and is always on the lookout for ways to improve himself personally and build his professional knowledge and skill set.

When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching college football – as an Alabama native he is a big fan of the Auburn Tigers “War Eagle”!

Browder’s shared passion for helping others and continuous improvement drives his efforts locally within the community. He’s a member of the Johnson City Convention and Visitors Bureau board, which meets monthly to work towards improving the economic conditions of the local community through tourism.

From working her way through college by managing restaurants to becoming the VP of Strategic Development and Asset Management at Hotel Management Services, Kathleen Maile’s life and professional journey is a testament to Benjamin Franklin’s words, “You can do anything you set your mind to.”

Nevertheless, despite her vast career success, Kathleen still has ambitious plans to continue in the development side of the business and aims to facilitate the company’s growth and her team’s development.

When she’s not at work, Kathleen likes to read, cook, swim, and spend time with her family and Church sisters. She also aims to become more active in volunteer work. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, she and her husband were quite active in the Church and volunteered with the food bank and youth group.

Kathleen also has strong ties with the Church and the Christian belief system. She hopes that these beliefs will guide her actions and decisions and help her become a better person.

David Weiss is the Director of Revenue Management and Sales at Hotel Management Services, Inc. He has been a valuable part of our team here for over six years. David has been in the hotel business for more than 40 years, working with many companies and numerous brands. He has a well-rounded background in both operations and sales. His main focus has been in revenue management during the last 25 years, including previously 7 years as Vice President for Extended Stay America.

David has four grown-up kids who live on their own and pay their own bills. He considers this to be one of his biggest personal successes. David has a long list of hobbies; he’s an avid traveler and has been to 49 US states and many countries around the world. He is a lifelong New York sports fan, a foodie who loves to cook and eat, and he’s also a weather enthusiast.

David’s dream for the future is to oneday retire in a peaceful cabin up in the mountains near a beautiful lake.
